An ancient being treads halls of black marble & amber dust.
A piece I've been working on this summer. (I plan on doing another render that focuses on the scene). Modeled & unwrapped in 3ds max; materials, lighting & rendering in Octane. Post-work and textures in photoshop (with a few normal maps created using Zbrush). I rendered around 4k samples over the course of 9 hours, so the image converged to an acceptable result.. although there's still some noise.
A number of the gold textures are mask created with modified b&w mandalas, as well as ornate brushes.
Render kernel: PMC (population monte carlo).
